The city's air is saturated with PM2.5 particles (fine particles that penetrate deep into the lungs), nitrogen dioxide from vehicle exhaust, and brick kiln smoke.
This is not a minor inconvenience. Chronic exposure to this level of air pollution has the same cardiovascular risk as smoking 1–2 cigarettes a day.
What Pollutants Are in Bangladeshi Air?
